The 61st Commencement of New England College took place Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the College’s Lee Clement Arena. The College awarded the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree to Cambodian-American author, activist, and lecturer Loung Ung (pictured); renowned poet Galway Kinnell; and writer, educator, and member of the Indian Parliament Radhakant Nayak.

Jennie Leonard came to New England College because of its history of success in sending graduates to the Actor’s Studio MFA in Acting program in New York. To date, no other college in the country has sent more students to this prestigious program. And a good decision it was! Jennie was recently accepted into the three-year intensive program offered through Pace University and is now the ninth member of the NEC community, and the third student from Laconia, New Hampshire, to attend.Jennie Leonard
