Returning students on campus on Sunday, August 30th, 8:00am

Aug 18, 2009

Campus Changes:  The Simon Center café is currently undergoing a significant renovation.  When you return, Chartwells will open a new dining area featuring their signature products: Mondo Subs, Coyote Jack’s Grill and Outakes Cuisine.  You will also find a more comfortable seating area outside of the Great Room.  In addition, we are planning to break ground for the outdoor turf field in September.  The field will be an outstanding addition to our athletic and recreational facilities; however, there will be some parking disruption during the fall semester.  A new lot will be constructed near the West Lot once the field is complete.  Finally, the high ropes course is now finished.  Our Outdoor Leadership, Adventure Bound and other student organization members will benefit greatly from the high and low ropes courses.

Shuttle Service:  Student Development will provide shuttle service from the Concord Bus Station and Manchester Airport to campus on Sunday, August 30th.  Shuttles will pick up students in those locations at 9:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m.  Please coordinate your arrival with these pick-up times.  Be sure to make shuttle reservations at least one week in advance by emailing your destination, arrival date and time (including airline or bus information), and a cell phone # to Penny Atherton at patherton@nec.edu.  If you have any questions about shuttle service, you may contact the Student Development at 603-428-2241.

Check-In and Move-In:  Your first stop on campus will be the Great Room in the Simon Center where you will confirm your course schedule and receive information about moving into the residence halls.  The Simon Center and residence halls will be open for returning students beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 30th.   Check-in will take place from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. that day.  Please do not arrive early, unless you have been approved to do so by the Residence Life Office.  Students living in the Quad will go to East, Charter or Connor lounges to receive an information packet and a room combination lock.  Given the limited parking in the Quad, it is imperative to park near the residence halls only long enough to unload your personal belongings.  You should then drive your vehicle to the appropriate campus parking lot.

Please feel free to contact me at ebraun@nec.edu if you have questions prior to your departure for campus.  As always, we in Student Development plan to work closely with you to make this a successful and memorable year.

Dean of Students
