On Friday, October 30, New England College will host a one-day training workshop designed to help novice and seasoned organizers develop effective strategies that seek political change through well-informed, concise, and respectful discourse. “Debating for Democracy (D4D) On The Road” is free and open to students, administrators, faculty, and community members. The program will be held in the Simon Center at 98 Bridge Street from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Spencer Foundation, Project Pericles, and New England College.
“D4D On The Road,” a non-partisan training program, will be held on 12 college and university campuses during the 2009-10 academic year and will be led by facilitators from Midwest Academy. Committed to advancing the struggle for social, economic, and racial justice, the Midwest Academy is a national training institute based in Chicago, Illinois, that has worked with over 25,000 activists. The focus of the program is to teach an organizing philosophy, methods, and skills that enable citizens to participate in the democratic process.
