
The New England College Philosophy of Learning Business
The Business Program at New England College provides more than a sound understanding of the theories that underpin business decisions. Our focus is to help students create and refine skills that will lead to success in business or any profession. The department’s goal over the four years at NEC is to help students assemble the competencies necessary to compete in business. Developing critical thinking, being able to write persuasively, performing quantitative analysis, and making effective presentations are hallmarks of a liberally educated person. For a rapidly changing world, these are the necessary skills the department seeks to hone in our graduates. When these are combined with a solid understanding of business principles, one is ready to pursue a career in business.

NEC offers a number of specialized concentrations; these can be thought of as advanced study in a particular field. This allows a student pursue an area of business in greater detail. We offer the following concentrations:

NEC offers two distinct minors with our program of study: Minor in Business Administration and a Minor in Computer Information Systems
Minor in Business Administration
This minor is suitable for suitable for students majoring in other subject areas but realize that a grounding in business is often essential for a productive career. NEC encourages those students to get a Business faculty member as a secondary advisor in order to assist in selecting the best combination of courses that meets the student’s needs.

The minor is designed to give students an understanding of Computer Information Systems. This is based on a premise that information systems knowledge is essential for creating successful, competitive businesses, managing global corporations, adding business value, and providing useful products and services.
