Professional Writing
New England College

Professional WritingAs part of our institutional commitment to the discipline of Writing, New England College is committed to offering additional opportunities for students to develop their writing and creative and critical thinking skills. NEC’s aim to prepare our students for the fluency of language use they will find necessary within the professions has resulted in the creation of two programs that each offer a degree in Professional Writing.

Currently, we offer both a Professional Writing minor, as well as a Master of Arts in Professional Writing program. Within these programs students take courses in which they demonstrate individual responsibility for the production of written work, recognize the parameters of intellectual property, and invest themselves in the seriousness of their writing endeavors. Both the Professional Writing minor and Master of Professional Writing programs allow students to improve their understanding of the theoretical, disciplinary, interdisciplinary and professional aspects of writing and help them to develop the style, voice, vocabulary, and syntax appropriate and necessary for the practice of composition in diverse fields.
