Carriage Theatre Ensemble
The Carriage Theatre Ensemble (CTE) is a unique organization in which students have the opportunity to direct, design, and produce shows. For theatre students or anyone else interested in theatre, CTE is a great place for younger artists to learn and expand on their creativity. Every semester, a student or students direct a show with the help of fellow students designing lights, scenery, costumes and make-up. We receive an annual budget in which we are allotted money from the student senate that we use for anything we need to make a successful production.
Recent shows CTE has produced include: Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar & Grille, A Grand Night for Singing and Kennedy's Children.
We recently produced a night of one acts including Blind Date by Horton Foote and Scuba Lessons by Joseph Zeccola.

Outside of producing shows, we also participate in other activities around campus. Recently, CTE and the Political Science Club joined forces to produce a comedy sketch show involving skits about politics and the 2008 Presidential race. Members from both organizations were involved in acting, directing, and writing the entire show. All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to research for cancer.
CTE has also recently started a relationship with Delfeayo Marsalis, a world renowned jazz musician. Every semester, CTE donates a percentage of our proceeds from our ticket sales towards his organization, The Uptown Music Theatre in New Orleans. In the future, CTE members hope to visit the Uptown Music Theatre to share our experiences with younger artists and volunteer for their organization.
Although CTE is very busy, we are a family. Our organization is made up of students who all share a common love for theatre. All members are very supportive of each other and we work together constantly to create theatre, but in the process, we build strong relationship that we will carry with us past college. For any student at New England College who is interested in theatre in any way, CTE is the place to be.
-Joe Paredez, CTE President
