The New England College Press was founded in 2006. The College has named Robert Emmett Ginna, Jr., author, editor, producer, and educator, as the Founding Editor. The goal of the press is to make an important contribution to the arts and sciences and, from time to time, address pressing needs of society while furthering recognition of New England College and its resources.

Founding an academic press at the College is in keeping with the College's mission and reflects our commitment to pursuing projects that advance scholarly endeavors through current practice and progressive technology.

Robert Emmett Ginna, Founding Editor of the New England College Press, brings to the position a rich and extensive background in publishing and significant experience in a number of related fields. A former editor in chief of Little, Brown and Company, Mr. Ginna has also served as an editor of four magazines: Horizon; Life; People; and Scientific American. He is the author of The Irish Way, A Walk Through Ireland’s Past and Present (Random House, 2003); a trade paperback of the book was published in May 2007 by Shoemaker & Hoard, an imprint of Avalon Publishing Group. His byline has appeared in a score of journals, and his intense interest in images and words led to prior work as a writer-producer of network television programs and theatrical motion pictures. From 1988 to 2004 he taught writing and film courses at Harvard. Mr. Ginna received his A.M. from Harvard University and a B.A. from the University of Rochester.

“An academic press is one of the great glories of the American educational system,” said Mr. Ginna. “Our goal is to publish books of high merit in content and graphic design. We will endeavor to reflect the academic strengths of New England College and while publishing traditional books, we intend to pursue evolving technology in the dissemination of knowledge. Publications of New England College Press will receive rigorous peer review by academic authorities. We hope to publish books of great distinction, worthy of remaining on a backlist for many years.”
