Roles and Responsibilities

Advisors are responsible for:

o    Providing accurate information,

o    being available on a regular (and posted) basis for students,

o    addressing student needs with confidentiality,

o    treating students with respect,

o    keeping accurate records of student contacts and progress,

o    helping students in decision making,

o    referring students to appropriate support services, and

o    allowing students to make the final decision.


The student’s responsibilities include:

o    Actively participating in the advising process,

o    being prepared for , and on time to appointments,

o    treating the advisor with respect,

o    being willing to discuss challenges and issues with the

      advisor,

o    being responsible for their own actions, and

o    actively and productively engaging in the educational

      community.


The
Advising Center is responsible for:

o    Accurately conveying policies and procedures to the

      community,

o    assisting students with the advising process,

o    assisting faculty advisors with the advising process, and

o    Working with the Academic Standards Committee regarding

      advising issues.
