Dear Ms. Jaeger:
It was great to meet with you and field organizers to discuss community organizing opportunities with ACAR Project Hope. Your insights into the Alinsky model and application of its principles in building political and economic power for low and moderate income families were inspiring.
I would certainly be motivated to develop ACAR’s programs on a neighborhood basis against sexual abuse and assault by my firm belief in every individual's right to participate in and be served by the community. My active involvement with Amnesty International and Habitat for Humanity at New England College and my summer job with PIRG introduced me to the power of building a sense of cooperative efficacy in a community. These experiences will be invaluable to me as a VISTA worker with ACAR. Furthermore, I am familiar with the rigors of canvassing, so neighborhood group building through "doorknocking" would not be new to me. I am particularly excited by the broad range of demands that working in one of ACAR's regional offices would provide.
I have enclosed another copy of my resume with this letter for your convenience. I am very enthusiastic about joining Americorps VISTA and its work to combat sexual and domestic violence, and hope to hear from you in the near future. Thank you for your time today.
Sincerely,
Susan B. Anthony
