Enrollment Deposit
After your acceptance, the first step to enroll at New England College is to submit your enrollment deposit of $300
to the Office of Admission. Your enrollment deposit is required before
you will receive housing information, health forms, class registration,
summer orientation, tuition payments, and technology access. Below is an
overview of the steps you need to take in order to secure your
enrollment for the upcoming semester.
Course Registration
Pathways will create your first semester schedule for you based upon
your responses to a course selection survey.
Once complete, Pathways will email you with instructions for how to view your schedule. The more information we have, the better able we are to build a
schedule that fulfills your needs and interests. Our general education courses are titled the Liberal Core Curriculum, with the theme of "On Being Human."
Generally, your first semester schedule will include College Writing, a Liberal Arts and Science (LAS) seminar, a course in your major (if you have chosen one) and an elective. Major requirements do vary, so we suggest you contact Pathways with any questions.
If you are a transfer student, your schedules are not
pre-selected and we encourage you to contact Pathways for
academic advising.
If you have any questions about course
registration, please contact Pathways. They are available to answer any scheduling questions and
can be contacted at 603-428-2218.
Housing Information
NEC
is a residential campus with a focus on community living and learning.
In order to promote community and help students develop socially and
succeed academically, NEC requires all students with fewer than 45
earned academic credits to live in our residence halls. We have three
residence halls set aside for first-year students: Colby, West, and
Charter. These buildings house almost exclusively first-year students,
so it offers students an opportunity to learn and study together, as
well as build lifelong friendships. The goal of our residential life
program is to provide a safe and caring environment that supports and
enhances classroom learning through co-curricular programming, faculty
involvement, leadership training, and academic support. The residence
halls are staffed with upper-class resident advisors who help build a
sense of community in each area, connect students with activities and
events on campus, and assist students in making the transition from high
school to college. Housing assignments are generally done in July and
notification of your assignment will be sent to you in writing. Housing
assignments can only be done if you have submitted a complete housing
contract. If you have not received your housing contract, or have
misplaced it, you can contact the Office of Student and Residence Life
at 603-428-2242. We look forward to having you as a part of our residence hall community.
Health Records Information
New England College offers a
variety of health services for our students. We have a full-time nurse
who is trained to offer treat ment in areas ranging from the common
cold, to nutrition counseling. Nurse assessments, and treatment for a
minor illness or injury, are available on a walk-in basis. The Health
and Wellness Center can also manage pre-existing or chronic illness
through partnership with your home primary care provider. If you require
regular laboratory work, testing can be done on-site and results
forwarded to the attention of your home doctor for review.
The following health information is required prior to registration. These forms may be found at the top of this page::
• A Physical Examination Form completed by your personal physician.
• An Admission Health Report Form completed by the student.
• A complete Immunization Record completed by your personal physician.
For
your safety, and the health of the college community, we must have this
information on file before you arrive on campus. Failure to provide
this information in a timely manner will result in penalties that may
include restrictions on your ability to register for classes, to live in
the residence halls, or to make use of the Health and Wellness Center.
New Student Orientation
Our
goal at New England College is to ensure that your transition from high
school to college is a successful one. In addition to helping you feel
at home as a first-year student, Summer Orientation is designed to
answer the many questions you and your parents may have regarding
financial aid, work study, course
selection, student life, health services and billing. We know this is
an important step for everyone in your family and we encourage them to
participate as well. There are many benefits to attending one of the
enrollment day programs. You will meet new classmates and professors,
select and/or confirm your course schedule, and begin new life-long
friendships!
If you have any questions regarding summer orientation, feel free to call the Office of Student Involvement at 603-428-2429.
Student Financial Services (SFS)
Financial
Aid can be one of the more intimidating tasks to complete as an
incoming student. Always keep in mind that our SFS counselors are only a
phone call or email away. If you would like to meet with a staff member
in person, please contact SFS by phone (603-.428.2226) or email
(sfs@nec.edu) us to setup an appointment.
Technology at NEC
All freshman residence halls, classrooms, and the surrounding
environment are part of a wireless network. That means you can be
basically anywhere on campus with your laptop and get online!
In general, there are three services you can start using right away
(after making your enrollment deposit)! These are your NEC Email
account, your NEC Blackboard account, and your MyNEC account. Each of
these services and password(s) are described in detail in your
technology admissions package, which is sent in mid-April. This information is important
and should be stored in a safe place and memorized! All communications
from the College will eventually go through your NEC email, so it is
wise to switch to using that as your primary email after classes begin.
If
you (or your family) have any questions not answered in the materials
or on the TechNEC web site, please do not hesitate to contact us. You
can reach our help services by emailing helpdesk@nec.edu or by calling
603-428-2350.
