International Admission Requirements
New
England College admission requirements for English-speaking students, or
students that do not require English as a Second Language (TOEFL of 550 or
better) will follow the same procedure as domestic students. In evaluating an
international student's application, we rely heavily on the student's transcript
and performance over his or her academic career. We also review the student's
essay, recommendations, and conduct a personal interview, if possible.
In terms
of the transcript, we want to see a college preparatory program throughout all
four years. This means that the student has taken 3-4 years of English in a
College Prep Program, at least 3 years of math through Algebra II (though most
students have 4 years of math), at least 3 sciences (one being a lab science),
and 3 social sciences.
It is
important to note that we work with students whom we believe have the potential
for success in a small, personal, and hands-on learning environment which New
England College strives to provide. We look at each applicant on their own
merits and evaluate all materials; including coursework, recommendations,
extracurricular activities, and a personal interview to determine acceptance.
(The interview is not required but highly recommended for acceptance).
We recommend international students have a minimum GPA of 2.75(on a 4.0 scale) in core classes, which is between a B and B- average. Core classes consist of English, Math, Sciences, and Social Studies.
Currently, New England College does not require SAT scores for acceptance. We do recommend that you submit these scores so that the Office of Admission can have an indicator of your standardized testing ability for future advising of class selection, if you are accepted. Students are not required to submit scores, but generally about 75% of students do submit them.
