Late surge lifts WPI past Pilgrims in ECAC action
Worcester, Mass. --- WPI rallied with three goals in less than two minutes late in the second half to defeat visiting New England 3-1 in an ECAC Division III New England field hockey quarterfinal contest on Wednesday evening. The fourth-seeded Engineers, who were making their first ECAC Tournament appearance since 1993, improve to 12-6 on the season. Fifth- seeded NEC sees its season come to an end with a 14-9 mark.
Spera named ECAC East Rookie of the Week
New England College women’s ice hockey forward Stephanie Spera (Stoughton, Mass.) has been named ECAC East Rookie of the Week for her performance in Saturday’s win over St. Michael’s College.
Field Hockey earns ECAC New England Tournament bid
Henniker, N.H. – New England College field hockey as earned a bid to the ECAC New England Tournament with an overall record of 14-8 after falling to Nichols in the TCCC Championship on Saturday. The Pilgrims enter the tournament as the #5 seed and will head to Worcester, Mass. to face off against the fourth seeded WPI Engineers on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 6:00 p.m.

Henniker, N.H. – New England College men’s missed The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) playoffs for the first time since 2002 finishing the season with an overall record of 8-8-2 and a conference record of 5-6-2. The Pilgrims’ season was highlighted by huge wins over Endicott College and in-state rival Colby-Sawyer and a tie with conference powerhouse Roger Williams in their final game of the season.

Henniker, N.H. – New England College women’s soccer fell just shy of making The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) playoffs finishing their season with an overall record of 7-10-2 and a conference record of 4-8-1. The Pilgrims did have a huge win over Western New England College and battled in-state rival Colby-Sawyer to a tie.
Field Hockey falls to Nichols in TCCC Championship
DUDLEY, Mass.– Sophomore forward Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) had a hat trick to lead the Nichols College field hockey team to its second The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship title in a 4-1 victory over New England College Saturday at Vendetti Field. The third-seeded Bison held on to a 2-0 first-half lead to snap the Pilgrims’ streak of seven consecutive titles and improve to a program-record 18-3 on the year. Nichols will await the NCAA Championship Tournament pairings, which will be announced on Monday, November 9th at 9 a.m. on www.ncaa.com. New England College stands at 14-8 on the year and now awaits a possible ECAC Tournament bid.
Spera lifts Pilgrims past St. Michael's in overtime
Henniker, N.H. – First-year forward Stephanie Spera (Stoughton, Mass.) netted two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, lifting NEC women’s ice hockey past the St. Michael’s College Knights 3-2 Saturday. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 2-0-0 on the season, while the loss drops the Knights to 0-2-0 overall.
Pilgrims earn trip to TCCC Championship
BEVERLY, Mass. – For the seventh consecutive season, the New England College field hockey team got the better of the Endicott College Gulls in The Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs, as the Pilgrims advanced to the TCCC finals with a 2-1 victory over Endicott College on Wednesday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. NEC improves to 14-7 this season while Endicott falls to 11-8 and will hope for a bid to the ECAC Tournament.
Men's Hockey picked third in ECAC East Poll
New England College men’s ice hockey has been picked third in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Pilgrims finished a close third receiving 81 points as Castleton State grabbed the second spot with 86 points. Grabbing the top spot in the poll was Norwich University who received nine of the ten first place votes.
Johnson named TCCC Defensive Player of the Week
New England College field hockey defender Jamie Johnson (Lynnfield, Mass.) was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance throughout the week of October 26-October 31.
Men's Cross Country places seventh at TCCC Championship
New England College men’s cross country finishes seventh overall in the TCCC Championship Meet held this past Saturday in Springfield, Mass. NEC’s top runner was first-year runner Abimael Medina (Lancaster, N.H.) who finished the 8K race in a time of 30:02 good enough for 27th overall.
Pilgrims capture season opener over Pioneers
New England College women’s ice hockey forward Stephanie Spera (Stoughton, Mass.) netted the lone goal of the game in the second period lifting the Pilgrims past the visiting Utica College Pioneers 1-0 Saturday evening. The Pilgrims open their season with a home win for just the second time in program history, while the loss drops the Pioneers to 0-2-0 on the season.
Field Hockey advances to TCCC Semifinals
New England College field hockey would net two goals in the second half lifting them past the visiting Salve Regina Seahawks 2-0 Saturday in TCCC Quarterfinal action. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 13-7 overall and advance to the TCCC Semifinals. With the loss the Seahawks finish their season with an overall record of 8-11.
Women's Hockey poised for season opener
New England College women’s ice hockey finished their 2008-09 season with an overall record of 11-13-2 an ECAC East record of 8-9-2. The Pilgrims earned their seventh consecutive trip to the ECAC East Playoffs but fell to University of Southern Maine in the quarterfinals.

New England College field hockey forward Samantha Escobar (Rumney, N.H.) would net an unassisted goal with just over five minute remaining in regulation to lift he Pilgrims past the University of Southern Maine Huskies 4-3 Thursday afternoon. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 12-7 overall, while the Huskies fall to 10-8 on the season.

New England College men’s soccer would battle visiting Roger Williams University to a 1-1 tie Wednesday afternoon in Henniker. With the tie the Pilgrims finish their season with an overall record of 8-8-2 and a conference record of 5-6-2. The Hawks move to 13-5-1 on the season and 9-3-1 in the conference and await the seedings for the TCCC Playoffs which will open play on Saturday.

The Roger Williams University Hawks would explode for six second half goals en route to an 8-1 win over the New England College Pilgrims Tuesday afternoon. With the win the Hawks improve to 11-5-2 overall and 9-3-1 in TCCC play. With the loss the Pilgrims end their season with an overall record of 7-10-2 and a conference record of 4-8-1.
Pilgrims fall to in-state rival Keene
KEENE, N.H. - Sophomore Jackie Benson (Hampstead, N.H.) and senior Carly Benning (Brewster, Mass.) scored goals in Keene State’s non-conference field hockey victory over in-state rival New England College on Tuesday night.

New England College field hockey has finished TCCC play with a record of 5-3 earning the #4 seed heading into the TCCC post season. The Pilgrims will host an opening round quarterfinal game against the #5 seeded Salve Regina Seahawks on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1:00 p.m.
