Women's Soccer falls in conference opener
Salve Regina’s Liz Galla (Beacon, Falls, Conn.) and Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) each netted a goal and dished out an assist leading the visiting Seahawks past the New England College Pilgrims 3-0 in women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Seahawks improve to 3-2-0 overall and capture their first conference victory of the season improving to 1-0-0. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the TCCC.
Men's Soccer beats Rivier in home opener
New England College men’s soccer senior Kagan Sinclair scored a goal and dished out an assist leading the Pilgrims past the visiting Rivier College Raiders 3-1 Thursday evening in Henniker. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 2-1-0 overall, while the loss drops the Raiders to 0-3-0 on the season.

New England College women’s soccer captured their first win of 2009 as the Pilgrims shutout Mount Saint Mary’s College 1-0 Wednesday evening in Newburgh, N.Y. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 1-2-1 on the season, while the loss drops the Knights to 0-4-0 overall.

Wellesley College’s Callie Lekas (Brewster, Mass.) netted three goals, including the game-winner, lifting the Blue Pride past the New England College Pilgrims 5-3 Wednesday afternoon in Henniker. With the win the Blue Pride remain undefeated on the season improving to 2-0 overall, while the Pilgrims fall to 1-2 on the season.

Women's Soccer poised for playoff return
New England College women’s soccer finished their 2008 campaign with a record of 7-10-1 overall and a record of 5-7-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) just shy of the TCCC Playoffs. The Pilgrims did finish the season with an impressive home record of 6-2-1 beating conference rival Colby-Sawyer in overtime and edging Wentworth 4-3 late in the season.
Field Hockey in search of eighth straight
New England College field hockey finished their 2008 season with a 17-5 overall record and an impressive 7-1 conference record. The Pilgrims sailed through the playoffs winning their seventh straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Championship and earning the program’s tenth trip to the NCAA Tournament. NEC field hockey has huge expectations in 2009 as the Pilgrims have been selected second in the TCCC Preseason Poll voted on by the conference’s head coaches. The Pilgrims received three of the conference’s nine first place votes.

Overall the Pilgrims finished their 2008 campaign with a record of 10-6-3 and earned home field advantage in the TCCC Playoffs for the second time in three years.
Two NEC Hockey Alumni join the world of coaching
Two New England College hockey alumni are making their coaching splash in the world of Division I hockey. Scott Gray who graduated back in 2005 has joined the Canisius College coaching staff as an assistant coach, while 2003 graduate John Rose will become a member of the 2009-10 Dartmouth College coaching staff.
Sis Paulsen named Women's Ice Hockey Coach
New England College Director of Athletics Lori Runksmeier is pleased to announce the hiring of Sis Paulsen as the new women’s ice hockey coach. Paulsen becomes the fifth women’s hockey coach in program history and will take over for Jackie MacMillan who served two seasons.

Junior Alexandra DiRico among national leaders
New England College women’s lacrosse goalie Alexandra DiRico (Limerick, Pa.) finished her 2009 campaign among the national leaders in several goalie statistics. DiRico, a junior, ranked first among NCAA Division III goalies with 249 saves on the season and finished tenth in the nation in save percentage (.537).
NEC Summer Hoop Camps still have openings
New England College still has openings for both the boys and girls summer hoop camps. The boys’ basketball camp will be held throughout the week of July 6-10 and the girls’ basketball camp will be held throughout the week of July 20-24.
