Ayotte lifts Pilgrims past visiting Seahawks
New England College junior Marisa Ayotte (Feeding Hills, Mass.) would net the game-winner with 20 minutes remaining in regulation to lift the Pilgrims past the visiting Salve Regina Seahawks 2-1 Monday afternoon. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 7-3 overall and remain undefeated in conference play improving to 3-0. The loss drops the Seahawks to 6-5 on the season and 1-3 in the conference.
The Seahawks would answer as Brittany Lopes (Lexington, Mass.) would dribble through three Pilgrim defenders and net her fourth goal of the season knotting the game at 1-1 just under a minute later.
NEC would break the tie 15 minutes into the second half as the Pilgrims would convert on a corner as Ayotte would tip in a pass from Kate Carnaroli (Bellingham, Mass.)
NEC would finish the game out shooting Salve Regina 19-6 and hold the 12-5 advantage in corners on the afternoon.

Picking up the win in net for NEC was Mary Roux (Auburn, Mass.) who finished with two saves. In net for Salve Regina was Devin Eppley (Darien, Conn.) who recorded 11 saves on the afternoon.
New England College will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 7 when they host conference opponent Western New England College at 3:30 p.m. Salve Regina will travel to take on Western New England College on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1:00 p.m.
