New England College baseball dropped a pair of games to conference opponent Wentworth Institute of Technology Thursday afternoon in Boston. The Pilgrims were edged 1-0 by the Leopards in game one and the Leopards would pull away late capturing the 10-3 win in game two. The losses drop the Pilgrims to 4-8 overall and 0-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

In game one Wentworth’s Nick Cunningham would hit a two-out triple and score on a wild pitch to put the Leopards up 1-0 in the bottom of the first.  The score would stick as the Pilgrims would have few scoring opportunities mustering just two hits in game one. NEC’s Daniel Pratt would pitch his way out of several Leopard scoring opportunities finishing the game allowing just one earned run on five hits and striking out six.

In game two the two teams would battle through a scoreless two and a half inning before Wentworth would score a run in the bottom of the third and explode for six runs in the bottom of the fourth cruising to the 10-3 victory.  The Pilgrims would get on the scoreboard scoring once in each of the final three innings.  Leading the way for the Pilgrims was Jimmy Lauzon who was 1-for-2 with a run batted in and a run scored.  NEC’s Scott Miller and Joe Clark each singled in a run for the Pilgrims. Picking up the loss on the mound for NEC was Adam Climo who pitched five innings allowing three earned runs on five hits.
