Baseball swept by Gordon College
New England College baseball dropped a double-header to conference opponent Gordon College Saturday afternoon in Wenham. The losses drop the Pilgrims to 4-10 overall and are still in search of their first conference win falling to 0-4 in the TCCC.
In game one of the double-header the Pilgrims would be held to just one hit as Gordon would score three runs in the bottom of the third to go on and beat NEC 3-0. NEC’s lone hit was a double by senior Dan Pratt in the top half of the seventh inning. On the mound for the Pilgrims was Ryan Blaine who allowed three earned runs on four hits.
In game two of the double-header the two teams would battle evenly through much of the game as the Pilgrims would head into the bottom of the seventh up 4-3. Gordon would muster a run in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings and the Scots would come through in the bottom of the eighth as they would single in a run with no outs to capture the 5-4 win.
NEC’s Joe Clark would single in two runs for the Pilgrims and Dan Pratt would double and score a run. On the mound for the Pilgrims was Joe Rini who allowed three earned runs in six innings of work.
