Caprotti runs collegiate best
New England College men’s cross country placed 31st overall and the women placed 40th on Saturday at the “Shriners” Cross County Invitational held at UMass-Dartmouth.
Leading the way for the men was Jesse Caprotti (W. Shokan, N.Y.) who finished the 8K race in a time of 28:09 good enough for 151st place. The 28:09 time was a personal best for Caprotti and will rank him third all-time in the NEC cross-country record book for fastest 8K time. NEC’s Mike Harrison (Newbury, N.H.) ran a personal best as well finishing the race 159th in a time of 28:24 and Mike Coulombe (Strafford, N.H.) finished 176th with a time of 29:18. Rounding out the men were Andrew Nelson (Nottingham, N.H.) who finished 191st and Andrew Teixeira (Grafton, Mass.) who finished 243rd overall.
The top NEC runner on the women’s side was Brooke Fallon (Dennis, Mass.) who finished the 5K race in collegiate-best 21:16 good enough for 148th place. NEC’s Elizabeth Bohn (Dover, N.H.) finished 247th , Amber Ruscoe (Newtown, Conn.) finished 256th, while Bethany Forshaw (Waterford, Conn.) finished 263rd and Hollie Wilson (Burlington, Vt.) finished 269th overall.
The Pilgrims return to action on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they travel to Williams College for a12:00 p.m. race.
