New England College field hockey extended their winning streak to three games shutting out the Clark University Cougars 4-0 Saturday afternoon in Worcester. With the win the Pilgrims remain undefeated improving to 3-0 on the season, the loss evens the Cougars record to 1-1 overall.

The two teams would battle through a scoreless opening 25 minutes before NEC’s Marissa Ayotte (Feeding Hills, Mass.) would net her third goal of the season assisted by Jamie Johnson (Lynnfield, Mass.) at the 25:13 mark putting the Pilgrims up 1-0.  NEC’s Sarah Feugill (Derry, N.H.) would tack on a goal assisted by Khatianna Evans (Wayne, Maine) with just seconds remaining in the opening half sending the Pilgrims into the intermission with the 2-0 lead.

The Pilgrims would continue to dominate on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball in the second half.  NEC would extend their lead to 3-0 just 4:25 into the second half as midfielder Jodie Dress (Keene, N.H.) would knock in a pass from Heather DiNapoli (Concord, N.H.)  NEC’s final goal of the afternoon would come with just under 23 minutes remaining in regulation as Ayotte would score her second goal of the afternoon assisted by Samantha Escobar (Rumney, N.H.) helping the Pilgrims cruise to the 4-0 victory.
