Bates College field hockey scored three goals in the final ten minutes of play to break away from the Pilgrims and capture the 5-1 victory Tuesday afternoon in Lewiston, Maine. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 6-3 overall, while the win improves the Bobcats to 2-4 on the season.

Bates would get on the board first as Rachel Greenwood would net a goal assisted by Emily Sampson 12:04 into the game.  The Pilgrims would respond quickly as Jodie Dresser (Keene, N.H.) would score her sixth goal of the season assisted by Khatianna Evans (Wayne, Maine) tying the game at 1-1.  The two teams would battle through the remainder of the opening half scoreless as the Bobcats would hold the 12-8 edge in shots.

Bates would regain the lead early in the second half as Emily Sampson would score off a penalty corner putting the Bobcats up 2-1 just 5:21 into the half.  Bates would give themselves some breathing room as Sema Kazarian and Greenwood would each net a goal about a minute apart giving the Bobcats the 4-1 advantage.  Kazarian would add another score with less than two minutes remaining in regulation as Bates would cruise to the 5-1 victory.

In net for the Pilgrims was Mary Roux (Auburn, Mass.) who finished the game with 12 saves.
