Rivier College’s Nick Bean (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) finished with a team-high 20 points leading the Raiders past the New England College Pilgrims 69-65 Tuesday evening. With the win the Raiders remain undefeated on the season improving to 3-0 overall. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 1-5 on the season.


 

New England College would jump out to the early lead up 13-8 at the 11:17 mark in the first.  Rivier would battle back taking their first lead at the 7:01 mark and then going up six points ahead 30-24 with 2:27 remaining in the first.  The Pilgrims would answer closing the half on a 6-2 run and trail heading into halftime just 30-32.

 

The Raiders would extend their halftime lead going up seven points early in the second half.  The Rivier offense would continue to produce using a 10-0 run to go up 54-40 with just 8:31 remaining in regulation. The Pilgrims would chip away at the Raider lead cutting it to just five points with 1:50 left on the clock but Rivier was 8-for10 from the foul line in the final minute securing the 69-65 victory.

 

In addition to Bean, Rivier was led by Lance Bisson (Nashua, N.H.) who finished with 15 points and dished out a game-high seven assists.  Rivier’s Felipe Lima (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in nine points for the Raiders.

 

Leading the way for NEC was Shane Hennessey (Plymouth, England) who finished with a team-high 20 points and nine rebounds.  NEC’s Rafael Salado (Boston, Mass.) scored 19 points for the Pilgrims and Jamie Davies (Plymouth, England) chipped in 10 points.
