Men's Ice Hockey edges Skidmore
New England College’s Emil Alengard (Linkoping, Sweden) would net both goals lifting the Pilgrims past the visiting Skidmore College Thoroughbreds 2-0 Saturday afternoon. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 2-0-0 on the season, while the loss drops the Thoroughbreds to 0-2-0 overall.
The two teams would battle evenly through much of the opening half as Skidmore would hold the slight 10-9 advantage in shots. Skidmore would have several opportunities in the final period out shooting NEC 13-7 but Alengard would net an open-netter with 29 seconds remaining in regulation giving the Pilgrims the 2-0 victory.
Leading the way for Skidmore was Jonathan Watanabe (San Diego, Calif.) who finished with five shots.
