Men's Lacrosse falls to #9 Washington College
New England College men’s lacrosse dropped their first game of the season falling to the #9 ranked team in the nation Washington College 17-3 Tuesday evening in Chestertown, Md. With the loss the Pilgrims even their record at 1-1 overall.
Washington College scored the first four goals of the game and never looked back, exploding for seven unanswered goals in the second quarter heading into halftime up 12-1. The Pilgrim defense settled down a little in the second half as Washington would muster just three goals in the third and two goals in the final quarter en route to the 17-3 victory.
The Pilgrim offense did net three goals on the afternoon, including two goals by Matt Vozzolo (Somers, Conn.) and a score by Jacob Ryan (Victoria, B.C.) Splitting time in net for the Pilgrims was Nick Acquaviva (Syracuse, N.Y.) who finished with four saves and Matt Paolett (Woburn, Mass.) who finished with seven saves.
The Pilgrims return to action on Saturday, March 21 when they open up conference play traveling to take on Endicott College at 3:00 p.m.
