Men's Lacrosse falls to #14 Endicott College
The fourteenth ranked Endicott College Gulls stretched their winning streak to seven games beating the New England College Pilgrims 13-6 Tuesday afternoon in Henniker. The win improves the Gulls to 12-2 overall as they remain undefeated in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) improving to 7-0. The loss ends the Pilgrims two game winning streak and drops them to 4-9 overall and 3-5 in the TCCC.
New England College would come out of the gate on fire as the Pilgrims would net the first three goals of the contest in the opening eight minutes of play. Endicott would respond as the Gulls would score the final two goals in the opening quarter cutting the Pilgrim lead to just 3-2 heading into the second.
Endicott would continue their scoring in the second quarter as the Gulls would score three goals grabbing the 5-3 lead with 9:45 left in the half. NEC’s Dillon Lantz (Woodstock, Vt.) would net his second goal of the game at the 6:05 mark in the second sending the Pilgrims into halftime down just 4-5.
Endicott would explode outscoring NEC 5-1 in the third quarter, including Eddie O’Rielly’s (Beverly, Mass.) third of the game, putting the Gulls up 10-5 heading into the final quarter. The Pilgrims would net a goal early in the fourth but Endicott would tack on three fourth quarter goals of their own, cruising to the 13-6 victory.
Leading the way for Endicott College was O’Rielly who finished with three goals. Endicott’s Nick Cosco (Londonderry, N.H.) finished with two goals and two assists, while Andrew Harding (Niskayuna, N.Y.) scored a goal and dished out two assists.
Leading the way for NEC was Dillon Lantz who finished with four goals and an assist. NEC’s Colin Gordon (Manchester, Mass.) finished with a goal and an assist for the Pilgrims.
Picking up the win in goal for Endicott College was Eric Hagarty (Sudbury, Mass.) who finished with eight saves. In goal for NEC was Nick Acquaviva (Syracuse, N.Y.) who stopped 21 Gull shots on the afternoon.
