Men's Lacrosse picks up first conference victory
New England College attack Matt Vozzolo netted three Pilgrims goals in the third quarter lifting the Pilgrims past the University of New England Nor’easters 11-9 Friday afternoon in Biddeford. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 2-3 overall and captures their first conference win evening out their TCCC record at 1-1.
The two teams battled evenly through the opening half as the Pilgrims would head into halftime with the slight 5-4 advantage. The NEC offense would come out of halftime ignited and explode for six goals building an 11-5 lead heading into the final quarter. The Nor’easters would not go down quietly as UNE would net four unanswered goals in the fourth but would come up short as the Pilgrims would hold on for the 11-9 victory.
Leading the way for the Pilgrims was Matt Carey who finished with three goals and an assist. NEC’s Clint McDonough scored two goals and dished out an assist for the Pilgrims. Picking up the win in net was Nick Acquaviva who finished with 10 saves.
