Men's Soccer 2009 wrap-up
Henniker, N.H. – New England College men’s missed The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) playoffs for the first time since 2002 finishing the season with an overall record of 8-8-2 and a conference record of 5-6-2. The Pilgrims’ season was highlighted by huge wins over Endicott College and in-state rival Colby-Sawyer and a tie with conference powerhouse Roger Williams in their final game of the season.
The Pilgrims offense was led by TCCC All-Honorable Mention selection Kagan Sinclair. Sinclair (Marblehead, Mass.) finished the season leading the Pilgrims with 15 points, including a team-high six goals and three assists. TCCC Second Team All-Conference selection Peter Koskores (N. Andover, Mass.) finished second on the team in total points with 14, including five goals and a team-high four assists.
First-year forward Paul McLean (E. Hartford, Conn.) contributed to the Pilgrim offense netting four goals and first-year player Mark Mangini (Derry, N.H.) chipped in two goals and an assist.
On defense the Pilgrims were led by seniors Scott Ryan (Pelham, N.H.) and Jon Wentworth (N. Andover, Mass.) who helped hold opponents to just 1.54 goals per game and five team shutouts.
Junior goalkeeper Pat Harkin (Scituate, R.I.) saw the bulk of the time in net for the Pilgrims starting 15 games and finishing with a record of 7-7-2. Harkin finished the season with a 1.57 goals per game average and four shutouts.
