Men's Soccer beats Rivier in home opener
New England College men’s soccer senior Kagan Sinclair scored a goal and dished out an assist leading the Pilgrims past the visiting Rivier College Raiders 3-1 Thursday evening in Henniker. With the win the Pilgrims improve to 2-1-0 overall, while the loss drops the Raiders to 0-3-0 on the season.
NEC would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute of the game Kagan Sinclair would strike a shot that would deflect off a Rivier defender and bounce in.
The Pilgrims offense would continue to put the pressure on early in the second half as Aaron Kolb would float in a shot at the 54:53 mark putting NEC up 3-0. Rivier’s Eric Moreno would get the Raiders on the board as he would put in a deflection with just under 20 minutes remaining in the regulation.
The Pilgrim defense would finish the half strong, holding the Raiders to just one shot on net in the final 20 minutes to capture the 3-1 victory.
The Pilgrims would finish the afternoon leading the Raiders in shots 17-6, while Rivier would hold the slight 5-4 advantage in corners.
Picking up the win in goal for NEC was Pat Harkin who finished with two saves. In goal for Rivier was John Jarvis who recorded four saves on the afternoon.
