Men's Soccer picks up shutout win
NEC’s Kagan Sinclair (Marblehead, Mass.) would lead the Pilgrims netting two goals in a 4-0 victory over Rivier College Thursday evening in Nashua, N.H. The win puts evens the Pilgrims’ record to 2-2-0 on the season, while the Raiders drop to 0-4-0.
The first half was close with only one goal as NEC’s Kwasi Acheampong (Webster, Mass.) would net the first goal of his collegiate career assisted by Dean Smith (Schwenksville, Pa.) at the 42:19 mark. The Pilgrims would dominate much of the play in the first half out shooting the Raiders 12-1 and holding the 4-0 edge in corner opportunities.
The Pilgrims would break out in the second half of play as junior Kagan Sinclair (Marblehead, Mass.) would score two goals in the opening seven minutes including assists from Scott Ryan (Pelham, N.H.) and Michael Healey (Bedford, N.H.) NEC would tack on one more goal late as Aaron Benedetti (Rehoboth, Mass.) who score his first goal of the season at the 72:12 mark expanding the Pilgrim lead to 4-0.
NEC’s keeper Pat Harkin (Scituate, R.I.) would have a quiet evening picking up the shutout win in goal. NEC’s defensive force stifled the Rivier offense holding them to only one shot in the second half of the game.
In goal for Rivier was Jon Jarvis( St. Albans, Vt.) who finished the evening with 13 saves.
New England College will be back in action this Saturday Sept. 13 when the travel to face off against Salve Regina at 3:30 p.m. Rivier will travel to take on Emmanuel College in Saturday.
