Men's Soccer Players Pick Up End of Year Honors
Four New England College men’s soccer student-athletes have received Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) honors for their performances throughout the 2007 season.
New England College men’s soccer player Jordan Colonese (Guilford, Conn.) has been named 1st Team All-TCCC. Colonese leads the Pilgrims and the conference in points and goals. Colonese has 39 points on the season, including 18 goals and three assists. Colonese shattered the previous NEC single-season goal record of 16 and was named TCCC Player of the Week twice this season.
Midfielder James Palumbo (E. Kingston, N.H.) picked up 2nd Team All-TCCC honors. Palumbo helped to create much of the Pilgrim offense while stifling opposing offenses. Palumbo has scored one goal on the season but is tied for the team lead in assists with five.
Junior transfer Dean Smith (Schwenksville, Pa.) was named to the TCCC Honorable Mention Team. Smith made an immediate impact on the Pilgrim offense this season and is currently second on the team in scoring with eight goals and tied for the team lead in assists with five.
Joining Smith on the TCCC Honorable Mention Team is senior defender Nel Lima (Peabody, Mass.) Lima was impressive on defense playing in all 18 games for the Pilgrims. Lima scored a goal and picked up an assist but more importantly he has helped to hold opponents to just 1.25 goals per game and led the Pilgrims to five shutout victories.
