Men's Soccer players pick up post season honors
Four New England College men’s soccer student-athletes have received Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) honors for their performances throughout the 2008 regular season.
New England College men’s soccer midfielder Peter Koskores (North Andover, Mass.) was named to the TCCC 1st Team. Koskores was an integral part of both the Pilgrims offense and defense this season finishing second on the team in points with 15, including four goals and team-high seven assists. Koskores finished the season ranked fifth in the TCCC in assists and was 2-for-2 for the Pilgrims in penalty kicks.
Senior forward Dean Smith (Schwenksville, Pa.) picked up 2nd Team All-TCCC honors. Smith led the team in almost every offensive statistic including total points with 19 and goals finishing with a team-high seven. Smith finished the season ranked seventh in the TCCC in points and ninth in the TCCC in goals.
Junior defenseman Ian Coorssen (East Kingston, N.H.) joined Smith on the TCCC 2nd Team. Coorssen was a leader for the Pilgrims on defense and helped hold opponents to just .94 goals per game and eight team shutouts.
Rounding out the awards was Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) who was named to the TCCC 2nd Team. Mayo finished the year with a record of 8-5-2 and five shutouts. Mayo finished fifth in the TCCC in save percentage with a .830 save percentage and allowed just 1.15 goals per game.
