Pilgrims capture win over Castleton, tie Norwich
New England College women’s ice hockey improved to 8-6-2 on the season picking up a win over Castleton State on Friday evening and tying Norwich University Saturday afternoon.
In Friday’s win over the Spartans the Pilgrims exploded for three first period goals, including two within seconds of each other, cruising to the 3-1 win over Castleton. Three different Pilgrims scored including Kaleigh Costello, Courtney Kerslake and Samantha Phillips. Picking up the win in net for NEC was Teraysa White who finished with 20 saves.
On Saturday it was goalie Teraysa White who led the Pilgrims to their fourth shutout of the season tying Norwich 0-0. The Cadets out shot the Pilgrims 42-15 on the afternoon and the NEC defense was able to kill off eight power-play opportunities keeping Norwich off the board. White continues to impress as the first-year goalie recorded 42 saves and improved her save percentage to .951
