New England College men’s basketball dropped their final game of the 2007-08 season losing to the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards 74-94 Saturday afternoon in Boston. The loss wraps up the Pilgrims season as they finish with a record of 7-18 overall and 2-11 in conference play.

Wentworth would take the early lead opening the game on a 15-3 run.  NEC would battle back using a 12-2 run of their own to cut the Leopard lead to just 17-15. The two teams would battle back-and-forth through much of the half but the Leopards would close out the half out scoring the Pilgrims 11-4 in the final minutes to head into halftime up 49-39.

The Pilgrims would struggle in the second half shooting just 37% from the field.  Wentworth would build an early 22 point lead in the second half as the Pilgrims would be unable to recover falling to the Leopards 94-74.

Leading the way for the Pilgrims was Ryan Jaziri (Norwich, Conn.) who finished with a game-high 29 points on 10-for-26 shooting.  NEC’s Bridell Thomas (Hamden, Conn.) finished with 14 points and Rafael Salado (Boston, Mass.) was the only other Pilgrims to score in double figures chipping in 11 points.
