Pilgrims shutout by Keene State in opener

New England College women’s soccer struggled on offense as the Pilgrims fell to in-state opponent Keene State 0-5 Wednesday evening in Keene.


The Owls would jump on the board early as Tara Nathanwould score just 11:15 into the game.  Keene would tack on two goals within 38 seconds at the 24:00 mark extending their lead to 3-0. 

 

Keene would net two goals in the second half of play, including one with just under five minutes remaining in regulation, to cruise to the 5-0 victory.

 

The Keene offense would dominate play throughout the evening out shooting the Pilgrims 45-0.  NEC keeper Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.) would have a busy night finishing the evening with 15 saves.

 

The Pilgrims return to action on Saturday, Sept. 5 when they travel to take on Plymouth State at 1:00 p.m.  NEC opens their home schedule on Sunday, Sept. 6 when they host Emmanuel College at 1:00 p.m.
