Junior forward Scott Ryan (Pelham, N.H.) netted the lone goal for the Pilgrims lifting the men’s soccer team past the Endicott College Gulls 1-0 Saturday evening in Beverly. The win improves the Pilgrims to 9-3-3 overall and 7-1-2 in TCCC action. The loss drops the Gulls to 3-11-1 overall and 3-7-1 in TCCC play.

The two teams would battle scoreless through much of the opening period before NEC’s Scott Ryan would put in a cross from forward Dean Smith (Schwenksville, Pa.) with just under eight minutes remaining before half.

Endicott would have several opportunities in the second half of play out shooting NEC 8-5 but Pilgrim keeper Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) would come up with four huge second half saves keeping the Gulls of the board.

NEC’s Dean Smith would lead the way with four shots on goal for the Pilgrims.  Mayo recorded his fifth shutout win of the season finishing the evening with nine saves.
