New England College softball dropped two games to Curry College Tuesday afternoon in Milton, losing game one 1-4 and falling in game two 3-7. The losses drop the Pilgrims to 5-19 overall and 4-12 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. The wins improve the Colonels to 17-11 overall and 11-3 in the conference.

The Pilgrims would get on the board first in game one as Amanda Lester (Columbia, Conn.) would open the second inning with a single and score on a Sierra Thibeault (Brunswick, Maine) ground ball.  Curry would get the run back in the bottom half of the second as Lauren Tobey would homer to center field tying the game at 1-1.

The Pilgrims would struggle to score a run after the second inning standing five runners on base in the final four innings.  Curry would score twice in the bottom of the fifth to go up 3-1 and tack on another run in the bottom of the sixth on their way to the 4-1 victory.

Leading the way for NEC was Amanda Lester who was 3-for-3 with a run scored and Sierra Thibeault who singled twice.

In game two the Pilgrims would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the top half of the first inning but again Curry would answer scoring four runs of their own in the bottom of the first to take the one-run lead.  Curry would add a run in the third inning and two runs in the fourth as the Colonel defense would keep the Pilgrims off the board through the final six innings cruising to the 7-3 victory.

Leading the way for NEC was Liz Ross (W. Hartford, Conn.) who singles twice and scored a run.  NEC’s Deanna Brayton (Queensbury, N.Y.) and Sierra Thibeault each single in a run for the Pilgrims.
