Women's Basketball beaten by Regis
Regis College’s Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.) finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds leading the Pride past the New England College Pilgrims 80-50 Monday evening. With the win the Pride remain undefeated on the season improving to 8-0 overall. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 5-4 on the season.
The two teams would battle evenly through the opening minutes of play before Regis College’s Stefanie Wozmak (Auburn, N.H.) would nail back-to-back threes giving the Pride the 24-13 lead with 11:14 remaining. The Pilgrims would get within nine points at the midway mark but the Pride would finish the half on a 9-1 run building the 41-23 halftime lead.
Regis would continue to control much of the offense in the second half as the Pride shot an impressive 57% from beyond the three-point arc on the night. The Pride would extend their lead going up 34 points midway through the second. NEC would struggle offensively all night as the Pilgrims shot just 31% from the field and were held to just 27 second half points. The Pride would finish the second half shooting 53% from the field and eventually cruise to the 80-50 victory.
In addition to Page, Regis was led by Sarah McNult who recorded a double-double finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Regis’ Laura Sears (Billerica, Mass.) chipped in 14 points and Stefanie Wozmack finished with 11 for the Pride.
Leading the way for NEC was LaShawnda Wilson (Burlington, Vt.) who finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. NEC’s Ashley Hutton (Lebanon, N.H.) scored 12 points and Hallie Price (S. Beach, Ore.) chipped in 10 points for the Pilgrims.
