Women's Lacrosse picks up first conference loss

Gordon College’s junior attacker Annie Cameron (S. Hamilton, Mass.) netted four goals and dished out four assists leading the Scots over the New England College Pilgrims 14-10 Thursday afternoon in Manchester. The win lifts Gordon College to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in the TCCC.


 

Gordon College would jump out to the early lead as the Scots would score the first four goals, including two by Veronica Pierce (W. Hartford, Conn.) to go up 4-0 in the opening 11 minutes of play.  NEC would respond as the Pilgrims would net the next three goals, including two from Jodie Dresser (Keene, N.H.) cutting the Scots’ lead to 4-3. The two teams would exchange goals and NEC’s Emily Tanguay (Manchester, N.H.) would tie the game at 5-5 scoring her third goal of the game at the 7:57 mark.  Gordon would regain their lead scoring the final two goals of the first half and head into intermission up 7-5.

 

Gordon College would net the first goal of the second half expanding their lead to 8-5 in the opening minutes. Gordon would continue to control much of the momentum in the second half of play as the Scots would out score the Pilgrims 6-3 in the final 19 minutes of play cruising to the 14-10 win.

 

In addition to Annie Cameron, Gordon was led by Dani Zorn who finished with three goals and two assists.  Gordon’s Veronica Pierce chipped in three goals and an assist, while Amber Whalen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished with two goals for the Scots.

 

Leading the way for New England College was Emily Tanguay and Jodie Dresser who each finished with four goals and an assist.

 

Picking up the win in goal for Gordon College was Chyanne Wilson (Pearl River, N.Y.) who finished with 14 saves. In goal for NEC was Alexandra DiRico (Limerick, Pa.) who finished with 15 saves on the afternoon.
