Women's Soccer battles Anna Maria to a tie

New England College recorded 32 shots but could not find the net as the Pilgrims tied the visiting Anna Maria College Amcats 0-0 in double overtime. With the tie the Pilgrims set their record at 4-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in TCCC play, while the Amcats’ record evens to 3-5-4 overall and 0-5-1 in the conference.


 

NEC was led offensively by senior captain Debbie Lyons (Wilmington, Mass.) and sophomore Colby Grant (Lynn, Mass.) who both registered three shots on goal.  AMC’s Alicia Savo (Mount Vernon, N.H.) recorded the only two shots on goal for the Amcats. 

 

In goal for the Pilgrims was junior Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.) who turned away two Anna Maria shots.  Amcat’s goalkeeper Karine Almeida (Brockton, Mass.) recorded an impressive 15 saves. 

 

The Pilgrims return to action on Thursday, October 9 as they host in-state rival Daniel Webster College in a 3:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.  The Amcats continue conference play on Saturday as they host TCCC opponent Regis College at 12:00 p.m.
