Women's Soccer drops final game of the season

The Roger Williams University Hawks would explode for six second half goals en route to an 8-1 win over the New England College Pilgrims Tuesday afternoon. With the win the Hawks improve to 11-5-2 overall and 9-3-1 in TCCC play. With the loss the Pilgrims end their season with an overall record of 7-10-2 and a conference record of 4-8-1.

The Hawks would get on the board just 14:57 into the game as Carey Baldwin (W. Hartford, Conn.) would score off a nice cross from Maddy Howard (Medfield, Mass.) putting Roger Williams up 1-0.  Lauren Pendleton (Southwick, Mass) would extend the Hawk led to 2-0 in the 29th minute scoring an unassisted goal on a breakaway.

Roger Williams would pick up where they left off in the second half with a score from Devon Leighton (Scarborough, Maine) just eight minutes in.  NEC would respond as Tamra Comerford (Fremont, N.H.) would receive a pass through the middle from senior Meghan O’Shaughnessy (Manchester, N.H.) netting her seventh goal of the season.

The Roger Williams offense would then explode scoring five unanswered goals in the next 20 minutes.  Five different Hawks would score, including Pendleton, Baldwin and Leighton who would record their second goals of the day.

Roger Williams’ Katie Fusaro (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Maddy Howard would each finish the afternoon with two assists.  The Hawks finished the game outshooting the Pilgrims 25-5.

Picking up the win in net for Roger Williams was Jen Garside (Londonderry, N.H.) who finished with four saves. In net for NEC was Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.) who finished with an impressive 14 saves on the afternoon.

Roger Williams will take the field on Saturday, Oct. 31 in the opening round of the TCCC Playoffs, time and opponent are yet to be determined.
