Curry College’s Suzie Jensen (Framingham, Mass.) would boot in a rebound in the 53rd minute to lead the visiting Colonels past the New England College Pilgrims 1-0 Tuesday afternoon. With the win the Colonels improve to 7-1-2 overall and 3-1-1 in TCCC action. The loss evens the Pilgrims’ overall record at 4-4-2 and moves them to 2-2-1 in conference play.

The two teams would battle through a scoreless opening half as the Colonels would control much of the offense out shooting the Pilgrims 7-2.

Curry would break the scoring drought just nine minutes into the second half as Jensen would put in a rebound off the foot of Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, Mass.) to give the Colonels the 1-0 lead.

The Curry defense would stifle the NEC offense in the second half holding the Pilgrims without a shot the entire half.  Curry would finish the game out shooting NEC 14-2 and hold a 7-1 advantage in corners.

Splitting time in net for Curry was Julia Tinetti (New Haven, Conn.) who finished with two saves and Samantha Hardy (Pepperell, Mass.) who captured the win.  In goal for NEC was Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.) who recorded 10 saves on the afternoon.

New England College will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 3 when they host conference opponent Wentworth Institute of Technology at noon. Curry will host conference opponent Regis College on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 5:00 p.m.
