New England College women’s soccer allowed two second half goals as the Pilgrims would fall to in-conference opponent Curry College 0-2 Saturday evening in Milton. With the loss the Pilgrims fall to 3-5-0 overall and even their conference record at 2-2-0. The win improves the Colonels to 6-2-1 overall and 3-1-0 in conference action.

The two teams would battle through a scoreless opening half as the Colonels would outshoot the Pilgrims 10-2.  NEC’s keeper Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.) would keep the Curry offense off the board making eight first half saves sending the game into halftime knotted at 0-0.

Curry wouldn’t waste much time in the second half as Ashley Hansbury would score off a pass from Fallon Harrison just 1:57 into the second giving the Colonels the 1-0 advantage.  Curry’s Brook DeLuca would give the Colonels some breathing room scoring off a pass from Amanda Howland at the 74:13 mark putting Curry up 2-0.

The Pilgrims would muster just three second half shots, including just one on goal, as the Colonels would hold on for the 2-0 victory.

Leading the way for NEC was Debbie Lyons (Wilmington, Mass.) and Amy Searle (Sandwich, Mass.) who each finished with a shot on goal.  NEC’s keeper Kerry Hughes finished the game with 12 saves.
