The Gordon women’s soccer team celebrated Senior Day in style, winning 3-0 on a wet and rainy day in Wenham. Freshman Caitlin Nedde scored the only 3 goals of the match, leading Gordon to a 3-0 win over visiting New England College. With the victory, Gordon moves to 8-8-1, and has a 7-4-1 record in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. NEC drops to 7-9-2, and has a 4-7-1 record in conference play.

Gordon took control early with a goal in the 8th minute.  Caitlin Nedde broke down the left wing and scored from close range when her shot squeezed past Pilgrims’ goaltender Kerry Hughes.

Gordon made the 1-0 lead stand up going into the second half, having outshot NEC 8-1 in the first stanza.

In the second half, Nedde struck again, on one of the prettiest goals of the Scots’ season.  Christin Peters set up the goal with a nifty pass across the box, after breaking in off of the left wing.

With just over 2 minutes remaining in the match, Nedde got the hat trick, breaking away untouched down the left wing for the clincher.

Pilgrims’ goalkeeper Kerry Hughes made six saves for NEC.  Abby Ytzen was not tested with any shots on goal, as she posted a shutout.

Gordon will play their last conference match of the season Tuesday at 2:30pm against Salve Regina, in a match with significant playoff implications.  NEC will host Roger Williams at 3:30pm on Tuesday in their season finale.
