1,000 Crane Project at New England College
A group of Japanese students and friends at NEC are making origami
cranes and asking for donations to the Red Cross Japan Earthquake and
Tsunami Relief Fund. It is a Japanese custom to fold 1,000 origami
cranes in hopes that a wish will be granted. When a disaster or illness
strikes, a concerned person begins making these origami birds hoping
that, by the time 1,000 origamis are made, the recovery and healing is
well under way.
There will be a table set up in Gilmore Dining Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the weeks of April 4 and April 11.
Please join the effort to send our best wishes for the safety of
Japanese people and the families and friends of our classmates. For more
information, please contact Professor Sachiko Howard at showard@nec.edu.
