What ALL Teachers Need to Know About Reaching and Teaching ELL Students
Professors Bill Preble and Carlton Fitzgerald once again welcome Anna
Marie DiPasquali (NEC alumna and social worker from Concord) and a
panel of her high school ELL students to NEC on Tuesday, December 6 from
6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Simon Center Great Room. Their
presentation last spring was so powerful that it resulted in two
articles by Bill and Carlton on reaching and teaching English Language
Learners (ELL) that were published in Educational Leadership (Sept, 2011) and The New Hampshire Journal of Education (Winter, 2012) - copies will be available.
This
event is open to education, psychology, and sociology majors and NEC
faculty, who will undoubtedly be called upon to teach or work with "New
American" students. Learn what these "ELL experts" have to say about
what works best for them as learners and for other students like them.
This
event is sponsored by the NEC Center for Educational Innovation -
Contemporary Issues in Education Series. Refreshments will be available.
Contact wpreble@nec.edu for details.
