Dan Freese

Dan Freese joined the New England College community on April 15, 1987 as a Maintenance Mechanic at Physical Plant (Campus Facilities). He started taking classes Spring 1988 and finished his dual major (History/Political Science) in 1994. After taking a brief vacation from NEC in 1999 he returned in October 2000 back at Campus Facilities where he ran the snow removal operations. Over the years he participated in building the Lee Clement Arena, renovations to Preston Art Gallery and Bridge Street House. In 2001 he was moved to the Information Technology department as Manager of TechNEC Support and has been instrumental in bringing technology to the classrooms on campus. He’s also responsible for providing sound for many College events including visits by political candidates. In 2007 Dan was honored with the Staff Member of the Year Award.

Dan has, over the years, been advisor to Students Against Driving Drunk, served several terms on the Staff Welfare Committee including Chair. He has been involved in WNEC-91.7 FM since 1988, currently serves as a staff representative on the Athletic Advisory Council. He was also a charter member of the International Diplomacy Council and has chaired several Mock United Nations and International Court of Justice sessions.

In his spare time Dan plays futbol (soccer) on 2 indoor teams and an outdoor recreation team.  He also participates in noontime basketball Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. When he’s not playing soccer he’s coaching or officiating youth games.

His son Zane will begin taking classes in Fall 2009.
