M. Elizabeth Gray
- Lead Professional Tutor
98 Bridge Street
Biography:
Beth Gray is currently in her eighteenth year at New England College. Before becoming the Lead Professional Tutor for the Pathways-Tutoring Center, she worked as a Professional Tutor, the Supervisor of Academic Support Services, and the Academic Advising Coordinator. Prior to her employment at NEC, Beth had a varied work background. She was a literacy educator for young children and their families, a home visitor for four and five year olds working on language and fine motor skills, a reading tutor for second graders, and she spent fifteen years as a land researcher, draftsperson, and surveyor for engineering firms in and around Boston.
Beth has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Fitchburg State College and a Master of Science in Human Services from New England College. Beth’s particular specialties in tutoring are education, writing, and Way of Science. Since she is a very organized person, she enjoys helping others to manage their time.
Beth holds to the philosophy that the best tutoring is achieved when students become active participants in their education, and that the measure of whether she is succeeding as a tutor is when her students need her less and less over time.
Beth lives in Henniker with her husband David, who teaches mathematics at NEC. They are constantly amused by their cat Dudley. Beth enjoys walking, hiking, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, boating with friends, reading, and following the Red Sox and Patriots.
