All benefits are based on specific eligibility as detailed by the US government policies and these policies are subject to changes that may not be reflected on this Website.

Military Tuition Assistance Top Up

Eligibility
Servicemembers must be approved for federal TA by a military department and be eligible for Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty or Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits.
Benefit Amount Based on Length of Service
Used in conjunction with Post 9/11 GI Bill or Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty. Can pay the difference between original benefit and cost of tuition.

Tuition Assistance

Eligibility
Eligible Active Duty servicemembers
Benefit Amount Based on Length of Service
$250 per credit hour, up to $4,500 per year.

Post 9/11 GI Bill

Eligibility
· Servicemembers with at least 90 days of aggregate active duty service after Sept. 10, 2001 who are still on active duty.
· Servicemembers who have been honorably discharged.
· Servicemembers who have been discharged with a service-connected disability (after 30 day period).
Benefit Amount Based on Length of Service
· At least 36 months. 100%
· At least 30 continuous days and discharged due to service-connected disability. 100%
· At least 30 months < 36 months. 90%
· At least 24 months < 30 months. 80%
· At least 18 months < 24 months. 70%
· At least 12 months < 18 months. 60%
· At least 6 months < 12 months. 50%
· At least 90 days < 6 months. 40%

Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty(Chapter 30)

Eligibility
Servicemembers who have been honorably discharged; AND have a high school diploma, GED or 12 hours of college credit; AND meet the requirements of one of the categories below:
Category I
· Entered active duty for the first time after June 30, 1985.
· Had military pay reduced by $100 a month for first 12 months.
· Continuously served for three years or two years, (depending on initial enlistment) or entered the Selected Reserve within a year of leaving active duty and served four years (the “2 by 4” program).
Category II
· Entered active duty before January 1, 1977.
· Served at least one day between 10/19/84 and 6/30/85, and stayed on active duty through 6/30/88 (or through 6/30/87 if Selected Reserve duty within one year of leaving active duty, serving four years).
· On 12/31/89, had entitlement left from Vietnam-era GI Bill.
Category III
· Not eligible for MGIB under Category I or II
· On active duty on 9/30/90 AND separated involuntarily after 2/2/91.
· OR involuntarily separated on or after 11/30/93.
· OR voluntarily separated under either the Voluntary Separation Incentive (VSI) or Special Separation Benefit (SSB) program.
· Before separation, had military pay reduced by $1,200.
Category IV
· On active duty on 10/9/96 AND had money remaining in a VEAP account on that date AND elected MGIB by 10/9/97.
· OR entered full-time National Guard duty under title 32, USC, between 7/1/85, and 11/28/89, AND elected MGIB during the period 10/9/96 – 7/08/97.
· Had military pay reduced by $100 a month for 12 months or made a $1,200 lump-sum contribution.
Benefit Amount Based on Length of Service
· Full Time: $1,789.00
· ¾ time: $1,3471.75
· ½ time: $894.50
· Less than ½ greater than ¼: $894.50
· ¼ time or less: $447.25
· Pays Monthly
· Rate changes may be implemented in October.

Montgomery GI Bill – Selected Reserve Chapter 1606)

Eligibility
Have a six-year obligation to serve in the Selected Reserve signed after June 30, 1985. For officers, you must have agreed to serve six years in addition to your original obligation. For some types of training it is necessary to have a six year commitment that begins after Sept. 30, 1990.
· Complete your initial active duty for training (IADT).
· Meet the requirement to receive a high school diploma or equivalency certificate before completing IADT. You may not use 12 hours toward a college degree to meet this requirement.
· Remain in good standing while serving in an active Selected Reserve unit. You will also retain MGIB-SR eligibility if you were discharged from Selected Reserve service due to a disability that was not caused by misconduct. Your eligibility period may be extended if you are ordered to active duty.

· ¾ time: $275.00
· ½ time: $183.00
· Less than ½ time: $92.00
· Pays Monthly
· Rates may change in October
