Demonstrating its long-standing commitment to civic engagement, New England College’s Center for Civic Engagement hosts the President’s Speaker Series to bring influential leaders from all industries to campus.  Students join the community in asking candid questions, learning about topical issues, and having access to outside perspectives.  During Presidential elections, the Center for Civic Engagement hosts a national College Convention, sharing extraordinary access to the State’s first in the nation primary activity.  The Center also oversees the NEC Polling Institute which has become a popular resource for national and local media and private clientele looking to gather important data.  New England College offers a rich Masters in Public Policy program and continues to steward important relationships with organizations and individuals involved in industries such as government, politics, and civic service.

Senator Larsen is serving her tenth term representing District 15 which includes Concord, Henniker, Hopkinton and Warner.  For the 2013-14 legislative session, Senator Larsen serves as the Vice Chairman of the Capital Budget Committee and member of the Senate Finance and Joint Fiscal Committees.  She is the Senate Minority Leader and was New Hampshire’s longest serving female Senate President from 2006-2010.  For two of those years, Senator Larsen led the nation’s first legislative body that included a majority of women, with 13 out of 24 senators being female.

“We are thrilled that Senator Larsen will be joining us at New England College to speak about her experiences and ideas,” said Michel Perkins, New England College President.

Senator Larsen will address students, faculty, staff and community members in the Simon Center Great Room in the center of New England College’s campus.
