Pair of NEC Athletes Earn NAC Rookie of the Week Honors
A pair of New England College first-year athletes picked up North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week honors for their performances last week (April 14-20).
New England College softball player Rebecca Allen (East Pachogue, N.Y.) was named NAC Rookie of the Week. Allen had an incredible week for the Pilgrims leading them to a 7-1 record, including NAC sweeps of Johnson and Lyndon and a split with league-leading Husson. Allen hit .481 (13-for-27) for the week, including a team-high 18 runs batted in with four doubles, two homeruns and six runs scored. Allen had three game-winning hits this week for the Pilgrims.
In Tuesday's 3-2 game one victory over Johnson Allen would hit a two-run single up the middle in the seventh inning. In Wednesday's 8-7 victory over Lyndon Allen came through again with a two-out single plating the game winning run in the seventh. Allen topped off the week hitting a walk-off, two-run, homerun with two outs, lifting the Pilgrims past Husson, 7-6.
New England College men’s lacrosse attack Tim Reilly (Hanover, Mass.) was also named NAC Rookie of the Week. Reilly totaled seven goals and eight assists in two victories for the Pilgrims this week. In Wednesday's win over Lyndon State Reilly finished with a team-high 11 points, including five goals and six assists. In Saturday's victory over Husson Reilly chipped in two goals and two assists.
