The New England College Theatre Department Presents: A Staged Reading of Equus by Peter Shaffer

Mar 27, 2012

(directed by Michael Tucker '97)

The New England College Department of Theatre presents a staged reading of the award-winning Equus by English playwright Peter Shaffer on March 29, 30, and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and April 1 at 3:00 p.m. All performances will be held in the New England College Mainstage Theatre in the Science Building.

Equus is loosely based on real-life events, centering around the explosive encounters between a troubled 17 year-old stable boy (Alan Strang) who blinded six horses with a spike, and Dr. Martin Dysart, a middle-aged psychiatrist who agrees to treat him. As an insight into obsession, religion and passion, this spellbinding production questions our understanding of normalcy and the cost of normalizing our world.

Tickets are $5 for NEC students, faculty, and staff; and $7 for the general public. Click here to make your reservations.
