Thank you for joining us at New England College. We are so excited to welcome you throughout the year, and have a variety of orientation programs to best suit you. Preparing students to succeed at NEC is what we’re all about!
First year/transfer students beginning at NEC in January, 2016 should plan to attend Spring Orientation. This program runs on Sunday, January 17th, and is an opportunity for incoming students to get to know the campus, their peers, and the policies at NEC before starting the semester.
There are two components to our summer orientation program: Creating Academic Success at New England College and The Pilgrimage. We encourage you to sign up for one or both sessions, but it is not mandatory to attend in the summer.
Creating Academic Success at NEC
The transition from high school to college can be a difficult one when it comes to academics. We are here to help. This session is for students and families wanting to get a jump on academic success. Throughout this morning program, families and students will have different options on what sessions they want to attend, as well as the opportunity to meet with the Mentoring program if you would like to do so. The goal for this program is to help students and families feel prepared for the academic rigor of college, and to provide information on the resources available to students.
Schedule for Creating Academic Success At NEC
There is no fee associated with the Creating Academic Success session, but you must have put in a deposit with Admissions to attend.
Another transition that occurs is the idea of living on campus. Even commuters will be spending a lot of time on the NEC campus. It is our mission to make you, the student, feel comfortable here. We will help you find your way around campus, introduce you to NEC traditions, introduce you to NEC staff and faculty, and keep you entertained. The Pilgrimage is an overnight program that is designed specifically for first year students. There will be a brief program for parents and guardians to attend during the drop-off time. Students will be spending the night on the NEC campus meeting new people and partaking in various events throughout the evening. Parents who wish to stay in the area can find a list of hotel accommodations here. Need to know what to bring with you for the overnight, check out our packing list.
All students wishing to partake in either program must be a deposited student.
There is no fee to attend the Creating Academic Success session.
There is a fee to attend the Pilgrimage Session which covers NEC gear, meals, entertainment, and overnight accommodations. Stay tuned for more specific information.

A mandatory orientation program will take place over the course of that first weekend, with classes for all students beginning on Monday. New students who are commuting are also expected to participate in Fall Orientation Weekend. A complete schedule of events for the weekend will be available on August 1, 2016
If you are an incoming student and playing a fall sport, you should contact your coach directly to find out your move-in date.
